FAQ’s
I’m new to diving, which course should I start with?
If you’ve already tried snorkelling, we recommend starting with the PADI Open Water Course, which is your first full certification to become a qualified scuba diver. If you have no snorkelling or ocean experience yet, we suggest beginning with a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, where you can try diving in a safe, guided environment before moving on to certification.
Do I need theory training before my dive course?
Yes. For all Kelp Divers diving courses, the theoretical portion is completed online before you begin the in-water training. This allows you to learn at your own pace and arrive fully prepared for the practical sessions, where you’ll focus on developing your diving skills in a safe, hands-on environment.
How long does the PADI Open Water course practical take?
The practical component of the PADI Open Water course takes 3 days to complete. Two of these days are conducted in the ocean and are weather-dependent, as conditions must be suitable for safe open water diving. The remaining day is typically completed in a controlled training environment to build confidence and core skills before heading into the sea.
